About aisp-emu
Welcome to the fan site for aisp-emu — a community project working to bring the discontinued Japanese MMO ai sp@ce back online.
After the original game shut down, a small group of fans started reverse-engineering the client and rebuilding the server stack from scratch. This site is where we'll share progress updates, setup guides, and anything else you need to get playing.
What is ai sp@ce?
Wikipedia describes ai sp@ce as a Japanese virtual 3D massively multiplayer online social game (MMOSG). It launched on October 15, 2008, and eventually went offline on June 30, 2011. Since then, the game has been unavailable, with its maps, content, and gameplay largely inaccessible.
What is this project?
aisp-emu is a fan-made server emulator for ai sp@ce. We are attempting to recreate the original experience for education and preservation, with the goal of allowing both old and new players to experience the game as it was before it went offline.
This project is an unofficial community effort and is not affiliated with the original ai sp@ce developers or publishers.
Open source and free forever
This project will always be open source, self-hostable, and free. The full server source code is available on GitHub, and we have no plans to hide features behind a proprietary build or paid service.
aisp-emu is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). This means anyone is free to use, study, modify, and host the server themselves. Importantly, if someone modifies the server and makes their version available for others to play on, they must also make the source code for those modifications available to those users.
For a project focused on preservation, this is important to us. It helps ensure that improvements and fixes remain accessible to the community, rather than modified versions of the project becoming closed-source servers.
Running your own server is meant to be straightforward. The GitHub repository includes instructions for cloning, building, and running the server locally.

Source code, build instructions, and contribution guidelines are available on GitHub:
Whether you're interested in networking, game server architecture, or reverse-engineering legacy MMOs, contributions are welcome. Check the repository README for prerequisites, instructions on building and running the server, and information on running the test suite.
If you'd prefer to help with our Wiki, it's currently open for anyone to contribute to. Even just adding information sources, archived material, or video links can be helpful for development and preservation.
